Kata Coaching is gaining a strong reputation beyond where it originated within Toyota.

Kata refers to the organisational dynamic that shows up in two specific management contexts:

  1. Performance kata - a repeating routine of establishing challenging target conditions, working step-by-step through obstacles, and always learning from the problems that are encountered
  2. Coaching kata - a pattern of teaching the improvement kata to employees at every level to ensure it motivates and informs their ways of thinking and acting
